Carabietta celebrates, music and new ATTE hours
1–7 October: Sunday's festival, Hesse, football in Gentilino and the Quartetto di Cremona.

Good Thursday from the Collina. On Sunday, the Stangon di Carabieta association opens its cantina for Carabietta’s autumn festival, with music at 11.45 am and a polenta lunch from 12.30 pm. Montagnola has two events at Sala Boccadoro: a Hesse Museum talk on twentieth-century women poets on Friday and a performance by the Quartetto di Cremona on Monday. FC Collina d’Oro also plays at the Gentilino sports centre on Saturday.
Two practical dates are worth keeping: the ATTE centre’s longer opening hours begin on Monday 5 October, as we mentioned last week. For households registered for kerbside garden waste collection, Wednesday 7 is the day to put material out for Thursday’s round. There are also two municipal notices for mid-October below.
Weather: highs around 20 °C
This is the official MeteoSwiss forecast for Montagnola, at 473 metres above sea level, updated Thursday 1 October at 12.11 pm CEST. These are Montagnola forecasts; elevation and exposure can make conditions different in Agra, Gentilino and Carabietta.
| Day | Low / high | Outlook | Estimated rain; range |
|---|---|---|---|
| Thursday 1 | 16 / 20 °C | Widespread high cloud | 0 mm; 0–0 mm |
| Friday 2 | 16 / 21 °C | Partly sunny | 0 mm; 0–0 mm |
| Saturday 3 | 14 / 21 °C | Fairly sunny | 0 mm; 0–0 mm |
| Sunday 4 | 14 / 21 °C | High cloud at times | 0 mm; 0–0 mm |
| Monday 5 | 13 / 21 °C | Sunny | 0 mm; 0–0 mm |
| Tuesday 6 | 14 / 22 °C | Sunny | 0 mm; 0–0 mm |
| Wednesday 7 | 12 / 20 °C | Fairly sunny | 0 mm; 0–2 mm |
The outlook is favourable for Sunday’s festival and Saturday’s match. Wednesday’s central rainfall estimate remains 0 mm, but the range reaches 2 mm, so rain is still possible. The local severe-weather tab showed no or low danger in its update of 1 October at 12.08 pm.
Sunday in Carabietta: the autumn festival
The 2026 event page on the municipal Vivi Collina d’Oro site lists the Società Stangon di Carabieta festival for Sunday 4 October, 11.00 am–3.00 pm, on the forecourt of Carabietta’s Sala multiuso. The cantina opens at 11.00 am, Collina d’Oro Musica performs at 11.45 am, and lunch centred on polenta begins at 12.30 pm. The listed lunch price is CHF 18, excluding drinks.
The organizer’s flyer says the concert will be cancelled in bad weather.
Friday: three poets at Sala Boccadoro
On Friday 2 October at 5.30 pm, scholar and theologian Karl-Josef Kuschel will discuss poems by Else Lasker-Schüler, Hilde Domin and Marie Luise Kaschnitz. Parole magiche – Una vita con le poesie, organized by the Hermann Hesse Museum, is in German at Sala Boccadoro, via dei Somazzi 4, Montagnola. Admission is pay what you want, and an aperitif follows. The selected writing explores exile, loss, identity and memory. Museum programme and event details.
The museum itself is at a different address, Ra Cürta 2. Its exhibition Isa Hesse-Rabinovitch! continues until 1 November. It explores the work of the graphic artist, photographer and filmmaker who was also Hermann Hesse’s daughter-in-law. In October the museum is open daily from 10.30 am to 5.30 pm. Exhibition details.
Saturday: Collina d’Oro–Wettswil-Bonstetten
The official Swiss First League match centre lists FC Collina d’Oro versus FC Wettswil-Bonstetten for Saturday 3 October at 4.00 pm, on pitch A at the Centro sportivo Collina d’Oro in Gentilino. The match is in First League Classic, group 3.
Monday: the Quartetto di Cremona
The Concerti del Lunedì series returns to Sala Boccadoro on Monday 5 October at 8.00 pm with the Quartetto di Cremona. Its programme, Tra silenzio ed eternità, brings together music by Webern and Schubert. Cristiano Gualco and Paolo Andreoli play violin, Simone Gramaglia viola, and Giovanni Scaglione cello.
The Fondazione Boccadoro lists admission at CHF 15, with free entry for students and AVS pensioners. Places are limited and booking is recommended: boart08@gmail.com or +41 79 843 96 74, Monday to Friday between 2.00 and 5.00 pm. The hall is at via dei Somazzi 4, Montagnola, the venue for Friday’s talk as well.
Two reminders for this week
As the Municipality announced, and as we noted last week, the ATTE centre at via dei Camuzzi 7 in Montagnola adopts its new hours from Monday 5 October: Mondays and Thursdays, 2.00–5.30 pm; Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays, 9.00–11.30 am. The centre is open to anyone who wants to meet others, read a newspaper or stop for a coffee. If you saved its earlier hours, this is the week to update them.
The next garden waste collection is on Thursday 8 October. Households already registered for the paid kerbside service can put material out on Wednesday 7: the Municipality requires it to be set out only the day before collection. In Carabietta the drop-off point is the municipal car park on via Municipio. Registration and payment are still required.
Dates ahead: 12 and 13 October
The Municipality has announced the final road surface work on via in Pasquée in Gentilino for Monday 12 and Tuesday 13 October. In the work area, vehicle access to homes will be limited Monday from 8.30 to 11.30 am and 1.30 to 5.00 pm, and Tuesday from 8.00 am to 5.00 pm. Residents who park in the affected area are asked to use municipal spaces nearby. The plan attached to the municipal notice shows the affected area.
Also on Monday 12 October, from 3.00 to 5.00 pm, the ATTE day centre in Montagnola will host the free film discussion Vivere da famigliari curanti (“Living as family carers”), promoted by Pro Senectute with ATTE. A discussion and aperitif follow the screening. Places are limited; register through corsi@prosenectute.org or 091 912 17 17. Pro Senectute event page.
If an event time changes, or you know a Collina story we should cover, write to us. See you next Thursday.
