Two dog-area proposals and an evening in Bigogno
15–21 October: planning applications on display, Autumn in Bigogno and the after-school deadline.

Two possible dog exercise areas in Gentilino are now open for public scrutiny. The municipality has filed planning applications for sites at Sacca and Nocc: these are proposals on display, not approved or open facilities. Anyone wishing to inspect the plans or lodge an objection has until 29 October. The locations and procedure are below.
On Friday 16 October, Società del Picon Agra plans Autunno in campo at Bigogno sports field from 6 pm, in dry weather. Gentilino's sports ground is due to host a youth football match on Sunday and a Seniors Ticino Cup match on Tuesday. There is also a deadline for after-school activity proposals and advance notice of the Piodella road closure on 24–25 October.
Two proposed dog areas: plans on display until 29 October
The municipality's two ordinary planning applications concern a site at Sacca, plot 87 in the Gentilino land register, and another at Nocc/Nòcch, plot 142 in Gentilino plus plots 5 and 16 in Pambio-Noranco, Lugano. The Sacca documents and Nocc documents are on public display from 15 to 29 October. This is a review procedure; it does not grant building permission or set an opening date.
The plans can be inspected by appointment on weekdays at the municipal technical office, Villa Lucchini, via Chioso 1, Gentilino. Under the published notices, objections must reach the municipal executive (Municipio) during the display period, in two copies, in Italian, and must explain the conflict with applicable law. The surface areas in the notices describe the land parcels, not the size of the proposed dog areas. The documents' description of the areas as “free” does not yet establish final fees or access rules.
Friday 16: Autunno in campo at Bigogno sports field
Società del Picon Agra invites residents to Autunno in campo on Friday 16 October from 6 pm, at the Bigogno–Agra sports field. The organiser’s flyer announces a complimentary aperitif, with wine, beer and water, and a menu of salametti, soup, polenta and taroz. The municipal calendar lists a 10 pm finish.
The event takes place in dry weather, as specified on the flyer. Check the Picon organisers’ website for any updates before setting off.
Weather: a brighter start, rain from Sunday
The MeteoSwiss forecast for 6926 Montagnola, 473 metres above sea level was updated on Friday 16 October at 10.41 am CEST. Its chart points to fairly sunny weather on Friday and partly sunny conditions on Saturday, followed by rain on Sunday. There may be some breaks on Monday, before rain returns from Tuesday evening and especially during the first part of Wednesday. Thursday 22 looks brighter again.
| Day | Outlook | Indicative temperature from hourly chart |
|---|---|---|
| Friday 16 October | Fairly sunny | about 13–19 °C |
| Saturday 17 October | Partly sunny | about 12–19 °C |
| Sunday 18 October | Cloudy with rain | about 13–15 °C |
| Monday 19 October | Clouds, showers and sunny breaks | about 12–17 °C |
| Tuesday 20 October | Rain mainly from the evening | about 12–16 °C |
| Wednesday 21 October | Rain mainly in the first part of the day | about 12–15 °C |
| Thursday 22 October | Fairly sunny | about 10–17 °C |
These temperatures are rounded indications from the hourly chart, not MeteoSwiss's official daily lows and highs. The chart shows uncertainty around rainfall: a central estimate of zero does not rule rain out. Montagnola's “Severe weather” panel showed no or low danger, updated on 16 October at 10.40 am. That alert assessment is separate from the rain forecast. Elevation and exposure can produce different conditions in Agra, Gentilino and Carabietta; check the official local forecast again before outdoor events.
Football: INSEMA on Sunday, Seniors on Tuesday
At 4 pm on Sunday 18 October, INSEMA faces Sassariente in the Youth League B on pitch A at the Collina d'Oro sports centre in Gentilino. This is a youth match, not an FC Collina d'Oro first-team fixture. It appears in the Ticino Football Federation's official ground schedule and the INSEMA calendar.
On the same pitch at 8.30 pm on Tuesday 20 October, FC Collina d'Oro Seniors 30+ play AC Lema Seniors 30+ in the round of 32 of the Ticino Cup. This is separate from the league match between the same teams on 9 October. The federation schedule gives the time. The first team, meanwhile, is scheduled for a preparation match away to AC Bellinzona at 7.30 pm on Friday 16 October. The fixture is listed in the Prima Lega Match Center.
At the Hesse Museum, a show to see before 1 November
The Isa Hesse-Rabinovitch! exhibition continues at the Hermann Hesse Museum, Torre Camuzzi, Ra Cürta 2, Montagnola, until Sunday 1 November. It opened in March and was mentioned in our 1 October edition; this is a reminder for anyone who still wants to see it. The museum lists daily opening from 10.30 am to 5.30 pm until the end of the season.
Standard admission is CHF 10, or CHF 8 for students and pensioners. The museum lists free entry for Collina d'Oro residents presenting a Tessera di domicilio, obtainable from the municipal office.
Reminder: after-school activity proposals due Tuesday
Mentioned in the previous edition, the municipality's call for after-school activity leaders closes at 11 am on Tuesday 20 October. It is for people proposing activities for primary-school pupils in 2026/27, not for families enrolling a child.
The written proposal must briefly describe the activity, the children's age range and the maximum number of participants, with a short CV and the required self-declaration concerning the criminal record. Send it to Istituto scolastico di Collina d'Oro, Piazza Brocchi, CP 217, 6926 Montagnola. The full notice provides for seven weekly 90-minute sessions, 4–5.30 pm, with CHF 42.75 gross per hour, inclusive of the listed entitlements. A course runs only with at least seven registrations, and the school management decides whether a proposal is suitable.
Advance notice for 24–25 October: Piodella closure
The municipality announces a full closure of the Piodella cantonal road, including pedestrians, from 8 pm on Saturday 24 until 10 am on Sunday 25 October. This falls the weekend after this edition's main date range, giving road users time to plan. The official map shows the affected stretch.
The notice suggests routes from Collina d'Oro via Lugano station, then Breganzona and Crespera; from Ponte Tresa via Agno, Bioggio, Crespera, Breganzona and Lugano; and from Paradiso via Lugano Nord or Lugano station. It does not establish changes to PostBus services, so check the operator's advice closer to the date if travelling by public transport.
Christmas market: applications open for stallholders
The municipality has opened stallholder applications for the Christmas market planned for Friday 4 December in Piazza Brocchi. The organiser's form gives a 10 November deadline, a CHF 20 fee and one stall or space per participant; no food-service spaces are available. Confirmation is due by email by 13 November, and the market will take place only in good weather.
If an event time changes, or you know a Collina d'Oro story we should cover, write to us. See you next Thursday.
